BOOK REVIEW: Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry #1) by Simone Elkeles

It took me an entire year to be convinced to read Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles but I am now a certified Simone fan. Honestly, I feel awful that I didn't get to read this earlier. Anyway, I actually finished this and Rules of Attraction in one day. So yeah, that made me lose sleep. It is told in dual POV's, Alex and Brittany's.

First of all, we have Brittany Ellis. She's "Little Miss Perfect| (Well, at least she pretends to be.) and everyone wants her or simply be her. She has the typical jock boyfriend who is an ass a lot of times and a home life that's far from perfect. Anyway, she's always managed to keep her guard up. She has always been able to maintain her facade until Alex Fuentes enters the picture. Honestly, I actually pitied her for having to pretend all the time. It's pretty exhausting and it will one day catch up with her. I really admired her for her love for her sister, Shelley though. I can't imagine sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of your loved one like that.

Then there's Alejandro "Alex" Fuentes. I never knew how sexy Latinos can be (I must admit that they've always been intriguing to me.) until I met Alex. *fans self because he's just too hot to handle* I really, really, really love the bad boy persona that he is projecting. He's dangerous and totally bad-ass. And as some of you might know, I have a thing for bad boys so yeah, he's pretty much up there in my Top Book Boyfriends. I really enjoying getting to know him despite his flaws and the fact that he values his family enough to give up everything is really admirable. The guy just made me want to take long cold showers since he is simply too hot to handle. Haha.

Obviously, I enjoyed reading this a lot since I managed to finish this and its sequel in one day. And yes, I didn't get enough sleep because of it. I loved Alex and Brittany's scenes together. They weren't the typical lovey-dovey couple that you'd just love to hate. The steamy scenes were awesome as well. I do love the fact that Simone Elkeles did not write this with the insta-love concept in mind. The development of their relationship was written beautifully and I just can't help but feel so happy for the both of them. This definitely deserves a 5/5 star rating from me.

BOOK REVIEW: Incarnate (Newsoul #1) by Jodi Meadows

I finally got myself a copy of Incarnate by Jodi Meadows after a year of waiting for the paperback edition. I prefer paperbacks since they usually have 'extras' in the end, they're lightweight and they're cheaper than hard bounds. Anyway, I'm glad I did read it before the second book comes out. I might just get the hard bound though because of impatience. Haha.

To start with, I liked the character of Ana. I really felt bad for her all through out the book. Everyone gave her crap because of what she is and she doesn't even know why. I do love the act that she's managed to retain a very good heart though after being treated badly for 18 years. I do understand her reluctance to receive kindness from some people since she did have a very poor upbringing and has been a constant recipient of rejection her entire life. I just wanted to take her away from everything. I do hate her mother for being so cruel to her. The fact that she couldn't even accept her own flesh and blood is awful.

And of course, there's Sam. I loved him from the moment he appeared in the pages of the book. I think his sense of responsibility towards Ana is awesome. The girl deserves to be pampered after everything that she's been through. Anyway, I love the fact that he was patient with Ana. Reaching out to her even if it's so obvious that she finds it difficult to trust anyone even him. He gets her like no one else can which is just awesome and very touching in a lot of ways.

Overall, I loved the book. Everything was really unexpected for me. I haven't exactly read a lot of books that had Reincarnation as their theme but I think this is just awesome. I loved the book. There weren't any dull moments and I just found my self oohing and aahing in some parts. Sam and his friends were just so sweet towards Ana. They actually made her feel welcome even if everyone around her was just so awful to her. But to be honest, what made me gravitate towards the book is the gorgeous cover. I think the though Don't judge a book by its cover should not apply this time around. I'm glad I did though. The novel was just marvelous. It isn't just about reincarnation per se. It is a story of deciding who to become, acceptance and being able to receive and give kindness just because a person deserves it. I think this deserves an easy 5/5 star rating from me.

BOOK REVIEW: Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky #2) by Veronica Rossi

I've been pretty much excited about Through the Ever Night ever since I've finished reading Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. This is probably one of my most anticipated reads of 2013 since its predecessor is one of my favorites from last year. Anyway, this definitely did not disappoint me in any way. I loved it as much as the first novel maybe even more.

 

So let's start with Aria. I can't even begin to explain how much I love her in this installment. My heart just went out to her every step of the way. She definitely went through a lot in this novel. And it just broke my heart. I'm just glad that Roar was with her every step of the way. I loved their interactions with each other. I just felt bad for her whenever she had to endure the insults and all. But I love her. I think she's one of those characters that I can't possibly hate at this point. Oh yeah, she's a kick ass heroine in this book.

Then of course, there's Perry. He's now the Blood Lord of the Tides. He's definitely fit to be a Blood Lord. I felt so bad for her and Aria since every time he wants to spend some quality time with her they always got interrupted or they have this fear of being discovered by someone. I just felt awful since he always had to think of his tribe's happiness before his own. But I do believe that he is fit to be Blood Lord.

Anyway, my months of waiting was definitely worth it. The shipment of this book was delayed and everything so I had to wait a couple of more weeks after its release date. I think the wait was worth it though. I loved every bit of it. I ended up finishing this in one night. I just couldn't put it down. I love the fact that there weren't any love triangles in this one since Perry and Aria managed to remain monogamous even if they did spend the majority of the book apart and that they had their doubts. That's actually something new when it comes to YA novels.Anyway, my love for Roar did manage to go up another level. I love his protectiveness when it comes to Aria. He treated her like his sister and to be honest that kind of love appeals to me. Anyhow, I loved this book. I love the writing style and I love the lines. There were funny and heartbreaking moments and I just wish that this book didn't have to end or that at least the third book would come out earlier. *crosses fingers* I just love the book. I actually loved it more than the first one and I still can't get over it. It was about survival and love that conquers obstacles, doubts and everything else that might come in between. Anyway, I think this is an easy 5/5 stars for me.

BOOK REVIEW: Daimon (Covenant #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This going to be a very short review since Daimon is just a prequel/ novella to the entire Covenant Series. Anyhow, it focuses on the life Alex and her mother lived when they left the Covenant.

I just can't imagine how my life would be if the things that happened to Alex happened to me. Honestly, this novella just made me love her more. She's such a strong and awesome character. I wouldn't blame her for the way that she acted when things started to go from bad to worse in just minutes. Anyway, you'll see why she is the way she is when you read this.

I have this love/hate thing when it comes to novellas. I feel like they're just too short and I always end up reading them in just one sitting. This novella did answer a lot of questions so yeah, if you are a fan and you want to delve deeper into Alex's character then you should go ahead and grab this book.I'd give this a 4/5 star rating though since I feel like it was just too short.
